leaders of the Jewish community to serve as an independent
community newspaper. The Jewish Journal is published weekly
in Los Angeles. They distribute 60,000 copies each week, and
estimate readership at more than 160,000. The largest Jewish

Congregation Shir Ami (formerly The Ami Havurah) was
formed in the Spring of 1998 in the Western San Fernando
Valley (North of Los Angeles) in an effort to retain close
friendships fostered during the many years of Temple Beth
Ami's existence (which subsequently merged with a
neighboring synagogue to form a third synagogue) , and to
help sustain the work of Rabbi David Vorspan.
