The Mitzvah of Giving
Temple Kol Tikvah is supported through a combination of dues, donations, school fees and fundraising events.
Dues are the single most important component of the Synagogue's financial support, and are assessed on a member-unit basis, not related to family size. Membership is not dependent on ability to pay; therefore, any member who is not able to pay the full dues amount may, upon speaking with the Executive Director or the VP of Finance, be granted a reduction. Those members who can afford more than the assessed dues are encouraged to help support the temple with additional donations.
It is a Mitzvah to honor someone by sponsoring an Oneg Shabbat on the anniversary of their Yahrzeit. You may wish to acknowledge someone's birthday, anniversary, birth of a new baby, or other special event by making a donation to the temple. Even modest donations are helpful (and you may be able to get a tax credit).
It is through the generosity of your donations that Temple Kol Tikvah can provide the kind of programming that you have come to expect.
Volunteers
We realize there are some people who cannot afford to make
additional contributions, but they still can contribute
their time by volunteering. We encourage all members to
carve out a few hours each month to perform volunteer
activities. Volunteering is a Mitzvah and provides much
needed manpower for a variety of important activities which
help the temple meet its obligations to the community and
its members. Please contact the Volunteer coordinator. We
really need and appreciate your help.
Fundraising
One of the most vital and dynamic areas of Temple Kol Tikvah is Fundraising. This is an essential component of Temple life, as increasing income facilitates the growth and expansion of stimulating programming. The last several years have seen a variety of enterprising vehicles raise money for the Temple. These range from commemorative journals, to flea markets, goods and services auctions, and concerts. New ideas and energy are always welcome, and we cordially invite you to explore the "wonderful world of fundraising"! We benefit greatly from several other activities such as the Preschool luncheon, weekly bingo (Sundays), the Purim carnival and the annual Golf tournament. We appreciate the efforts of all volunteers and can always use more. We also appreciate the donations that are sometimes used in auctions at various events.
You can also help by asking some of the businesses with whom you work to become one of our sponsors. For a modest fee, they can have a link or page on our website and thus get their names in front of not only our congregants but to anyone who views the website.
Special Funds
Our synagogue has been blessed by having many philanthropic members. These fine congregants have set up special funds to help enhance our congregation and community.
Donations to honor friends, family or loved ones, may be made to any of the following funds during the year for any reason. Special cards have been designed and will be sent to the honoree.
