In this important 'upper grades' year, we will revisit the subjects of Jewish Holidays. The students will have an opportunity to discover of the feasts, fasts, and festivals that mark the Jewish year; How the Jewish calendar works; The difference between a solar and a lunar calendar; We will explore sacred text sources for the celebrations; We will discuss modern and historical celebrations both secular and religious.
We will take a look at Jewish history from the time of the patriarchs to the Holocaust; Students will explore their Jewish identity and discuss its development; Students will read first person accounts of children rescued during the holocaust.
