Confirmation (10th grade)
Confirmation - Exploring Our Jewish Identities Through Film and Television.
Our confirmation program will meet with Rabbi Offel, and look at a variety of issues of Jewish Interest through film & television
During the 2006-2007 school year, the confirmation program is offering an exciting new format.
Students explore their relationship to Judaism in a community of peers. The confirmation process represents one's acceptance of the principles of the Jewish faith, at a time in life when students are developmentally more mature than while undergoing the bar/bat mitzvah process.
We will explore issues, with the help of Rabbi Offel, that range from Israel and anti-Semitism to Jewish holidays and texts, lifecycle events, God and the holocaust through film and television.
This one year Confirmation program for incoming 10th graders, and any 11th and 12th graders who have not yet been confirmed, will culminate with a Confirmation Service that will be created and led by the students.
It is the future intention of our Religious School to have the confirmation program remain a 10th grade only program.
This school year, however, since there are students who have not had the opportunity to participate in the confirmation program, 11th and 12th graders, will be able to join the confirmation class.
