We encourage those, who for whatever reason were unable to celebrate their bar or bat mitzvah when they were children, to attend sessions to prepare them for what they missed. It is a quite wonderful eighteen month journey that culminates with a meaningful ceremony, and the opportunity to read from the Torah. During the course of study, students will learn to read Hebrew, become familiar with the prayers that we say on Shabbat, and discuss the 54 weekly Torah portions. The joy that this journey brings not only embeds itself within the participants, who become a family, but extends to the entire congregation.
