ABOUT US...

Kol Tikvah - Contemporary Jewish Life.... Traditional Jewish Values. Kol Tikvah is a congregation where each person is able to experience Judaism at their own level of participation. There is a spirit of concern and togetherness at each Shabbat service, where we work toward bringing people together by accepting strangers as well as embracing friends. We create a "haimish" atmosphere where traditional practices co-exist with modern day Reform Judaism. We are a congregation of outreach willing to address some of the more difficult issues of our modern world.

Temple Kol Tikvah is a relatively small synagogue with a sense of family. We are rich in talent--in the men and women who serve on our Board of Trustees and in the many volunteers who give so generously of their time and effort.

We are very proud of our religious education programs and are committed to involving both children and adults in the learning process. We have a fine group of educators and offer programs for pre-school, religious school and adult education.

Led by our rabbi, we are faithful to our heritage and observant of its traditions. We feel firm and deep rooted ties to the state of Israel. Our services are open to all and no one is ever turned away for financial reasons. We celebrate together in happy times and offer support and comfort to each other in times of adversity. Our youth groups provide teens and pre-teens with fun and fellowship. Holiday activities, like our Purim Festival, Passover Seder and others, are festive occasions for the entire congregation including all ages.

We provide an outstanding program of music both as part of the services and on special occasions, led by our outstanding cantor and nationally renowned music director. Our choir is made up of congregants only and is considered top-notch. We are who we are--a community of solid, dedicated, hard-working Jews who feel good about our accomplishments but who also feel that we can always do more to bring freedom and dignity, peace and justice to peoples everywhere. Who We Are . . .

Temple Kol Tikvah was founded in 1993 to provide a home and focus for the Jewish community of the western San Fernando Valley. We have many activities scheduled to meet the needs of the congregation and the community. The warmth of a welcoming temple family continues to be felt. We are inspired by the diversity of our membership and are committed to the growth and understanding of Judaism as it relates to our lives today.

Temple Kol Tikvah is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), and participates in activities of the Reform Jewish Movement regionally and nationally. Temple Kol Tikvah participates in the Jewish Federation and in local community events. We are governed by a Board of Trustees and elected officers and offer active involvement in the functioning of the Temple through our various committees. Our goal is to meet the religious, educational, cultural and social needs of our members.
